CARE GUIDE for your FURNITURE

By following these instructions you should ensure your Ezi-Rest Furniture will last for generations to come.

  • For furniture with an Oiled finish, remove dust before cleaning. Wax with a Teak wax within the first four weeks of ownership, then at least once a year to enhance and protect the finish.

Avoid using silicone-based polishes on all Oiled finishes - as this will void our 5 year warranty. Teak wax is our only recommended polish. Use the Teak wax sparingly as a little goes a long way as you only need enough to dampen your cloth. Always polish in the direction of the grain.

  • For furniture with an Lacquer finish, please occasionally wipe clean with a damp soft cloth to enhance and protect its original finish and buff with a dry soft cloth. This method is generally all that is required for the maintenance of a Lacquer finish. If you wish to use a polish, avoid using:

    • Silicone-based polishes on all Lacquer finishes - as this will void our 5 year warranty.

    • Teak wax is our only recommended polish for both Lacquer and Oiled finishes.

    • We do not recommend the use of polishing oil on any of our Lacquered finishes.

  • Dust as often as needed with a cloth that attracts and holds dust. ALWAYS dust in the direction of the grain. A simple, but regular clean with a soft damp cloth is generally enough to keep your furniture in excellent condition.

  • Clean up spills immediately with a blotting motion rather than a wiping motion.

  • Avoid placing furniture in direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to sunlight will cause damage and fading of timber finishes.

  • Avoid extreme changes in humidity. Too high or too low humidity can cause wood to warp or the glue used in construction to loosen.

  • Avoid extremes in temperature. Place furniture away from heaters, fire places, dehumidifiers and air-conditioning units. This causes drying out and the breakdown of protective finishes.

  • Rotate accessories often. They may cause discolouration and spot bleaching if left in the same spot.

  • Use table mats or cloths to protect surfaces from beverage glasses, hot dishes or heavy objects.

  • Do not allow fingernail polish and removers, personal deodorants, perfume, aftershave lotions, soap, etc to come into contact with the lacquer.

  • Always use a pad when writing with a ballpoint pen or pencil.

  • Lift furniture when shifting, do not drag.
